What is the difference between replacing a cylinder and the full lock?
The cylinder is the part where you insert the key. If the mechanism works and you want old keys to stop opening the door, cylinder replacement may be enough. A damaged mechanism or faulty locking action may require a full lock replacement. We check its condition before deciding.
Is changing the cylinder cheaper than the lock?
Usually, because fewer parts are replaced, but it depends on the model: a high-security cylinder can cost more than a standard one. We assess a solution compatible with your door without replacing the whole mechanism unnecessarily.
What do you need to quote for a cylinder replacement?
Send photos of the lock, the edge of the open door and any visible brand, together with the area of Madrid, number of keys and whether it is urgent. Do not force the door or dismantle the cylinder for photos. This helps us assess compatibility and confirm the scope and price before visiting.
How fast do you arrive?
Under four hours for urgent jobs inside the M-30. If it can wait, a scheduled visit within 24-48 hours costs €80.
Do you supply extra keys?
Yes, ordered with the cylinder and billed at supplier cost + 20%. For short-let flats we usually leave labelled sets per flat.
What should I do if I have lost my keys or they were stolen?
If there is a risk of unauthorised access, ask about an urgent visit. Replacing the cylinder can invalidate old keys if the rest of the lock is sound. Tell us if you cannot get in: door opening and any damage are assessed before work starts.
Do you change locks after an attempted break-in?
Yes. We secure the door, replace what is damaged and leave a photo report you can use for the police report or your insurer.
Which cylinder suits a reinforced or high-security door?
The door name alone is not enough. The lock type, cylinder size and compatibility with the protective escutcheon need checking. Anti-bumping and other features are assessed as part of the whole locking system; not every cylinder fits every door.
